The purpose of this website is to provide, for sale, images of the North Cascade Mountains of Washington and British Columbia and Pacific Northwest native wildflowers, wildlife and general Americana in digital photographs and other formats. This site features less-traveled places in the North Cascades. I hope you purchase some of my products but if you do not, I sincerely hope you enjoy the photographs and that they encourage the appreciation and preservation of their subjects. I would also hope that you share this site with people you know.

What makes my photographs so special? Maybe nothing. As with all art forms, I think this determination is best left to the person experiencing the art. However, I think many of my photographs are distinctive because the locations where they are taken aren’t visited very often and are probably photographed even less often.

Steep mountainsides and thick vegetation often make travel in the North Cascades difficult. On many trips, much --sometimes days--of my time is spent off-trail navigating around cliffs and slogging through swamps, windfalls and avalanche tracks. One particularly nasty patch of brush comes to mind where an hour of struggle and several quarts of sweat only got me a quarter mile closer to my destination. More than once I’ve disturbed hornet’s nests, usually in brush where it is impossible to run (though you still try when you are being stung and bitten multiple times). I go through all this trouble just to take pictures from lakes that are often nameless, fishless and far from any climbing route. This might be old hat for some people, but not many I wager.

Of course, I have photographs of more well traveled areas as well. This all becomes distinctive if you consider that, as I work toward my goal of hiking into every high lake in the Skagit River watershed, I am also doing a photographic study of the mountains of nearly the entire area on foot. I don’t know if anyone is doing or has done something similar and I don’t know if I will succeed, but just trying has been an extraordinary experience that I can share at least a part of with you.

I don’t know as I can claim any particular uniqueness on the other subjects I cover. Again, I leave this to the viewer to decide. Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you enjoy the photos.
